LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR TIMBER FRONT DOORS

Thinking about replacing your timber front door or replacing your UPVC door with traditional wooden option? Either way we would expect you to have questions about our product, what’s involved and our process. Find answers to our most common timber door questions below. If you have any other questions or would like to get a free quote, speak to one of our friendly advisors.

Why should I choose a timber front door?

Timber front doors offer versatility, durability, and security.

There are so many different types of front door you can choose for your home that it can be an overwhelming process finding a replacement. While UPVC and aluminium can be fine choices, we firmly believe that timber entrance doors are a great choice for homeowners.

They have so many benefits, including their versatility. You can change pretty much any feature of a timber door to create the perfect looking door for your home. They’re as secure as other modern doors on the market and feature a range of security features to keep your home secure.

On top of this, our range of timber front doors are designed to last. Thanks to the colour coating used on our doors, they’re built to never warp, rot or fade. Choose a door from County Timber to get a fantastic looking front door that you’ll love for years to come.

What are the security features of a timber front door?

Timber front doors are naturally secure.

Doors made from timber are just as sturdy as their UPVC and aluminium counterparts. As a material, timber is naturally sturdy and solid, helping to keep your home safe and secure.

Every single one of our timber doors is fitted with additional security features such as robust hinges and multi-point locking systems to help keep your home secure.

One of the main reasons an intruder may look to attack a property is because it looks like an easy target, such as if it has older worn down doors. Our timber front doors never warp or fade, keeping your home secure and looking its best.

What colours can I have my new door in?

When it comes to colour, you can choose from a wide selection to create your perfect door.

Your front door says a lot about you. The right colour can enhance your home and bring some much needed kerb appeal to it. To help you craft your perfect door, we offer a wide range of colours and natural wood finishes for you to choose from.

Within our colour range, you’ll find many classic and on-trend shades to choose from such as French Grey, off-white and cream. If you’re unsure whether or not you want to go for a bright shade, why not choose a vibrant colour for the outside and a muted colour inside so it doesn’t clash with your interior?

Our colour range also offers a selection of woodgrain finishes designed to enhance the beauty of your timber front door. Some of our more popular finishes include Redwood and Mernati Hardwood. Why not visit one of our showrooms to see the full range of colours available?

Do I need planning permission for a new front door?

There are some instances where you may need planning permission.

While simply changing the colour of a door or upgrading a style of door might not require planning permission, there are some instances where it’s best to double check your local rules.

For example, if you live in a listed building or conservation area then you may need planning permission to ensure your new front door maintains the look and feel of the area.

Outside of listed areas, if you’re planning works around the front door, such as moving its location, you could need planning permission. If you’re unsure, our team will be able to help and advise if you need permission to update your front door. Contact them today.

Will my home insurance be affected by a new front door?

It all depends on your policy and your insurer.

While typically upgrading your front door will not impact your home insurance, it depends on your specific policy and the arrangements you’ve made with your insurer.

As always, we would recommend double checking your policy as to what your obligations are in terms of minimum security requirements for the home.

As a general rule, you shouldn’t see any change to your policy as a result of replacing your front door with County.
